Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones WatchLyx uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
2. How WatchLyx Uses Cookies
WatchLyx uses cookies to ensure the website functions correctly, to understand how our content is used, and to improve your reading experience. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites, serve targeted advertising, or build behavioural profiles.
We use three categories of cookies, described in detail in Sections 3–5 below.
3. Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function. They enable core features such as remembering your cookie consent decision. These cookies cannot be disabled, as the site cannot function properly without them.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in providing a functional website.
4. Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with WatchLyx — which articles are read most, how long visitors spend on each page, and how they navigate through the site. This information helps us improve our editorial content and user experience.
We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. This means your full IP address is never stored. The data collected is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Legal basis: Your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
5. Third-Party Service Cookies
Certain third-party services integrated into WatchLyx may set their own cookies. These are primarily related to loading external resources such as web fonts.
Google Fonts — WatchLyx loads typefaces (Cormorant Garamond, Outfit, JetBrains Mono) from Google Fonts. When these fonts are loaded, Google may set cookies on your device in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
WatchLyx does not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or retargeting cookies of any kind.
6. How to Manage Cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies:
6.1 Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling all cookies may affect the functionality of this and other websites. The following links explain cookie management for major browsers:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
- Apple Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions
6.2 Opt Out of Google Analytics
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available from Google's website. You can also enable "Do Not Track" in your browser — WatchLyx respects this signal.
6.3 Cookie Consent
When you first visit WatchLyx, you will be presented with a cookie notice. You may accept or decline non-essential cookies at that point. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site, or by contacting us directly.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add new third-party services or change how we use analytics. When we do, we will update the version number and effective date. For significant changes, we will display a notice on the website for at least 30 days.
The table of cookies in this policy is kept in sync with the Privacy Policy. If a cookie is listed here, it is also addressed in the Privacy Policy under Section 4 (Third-Party Services).
8. Governing Law
This Cookie Policy is governed by the same applicable law as our Terms of Use. Where the EU ePrivacy Directive or GDPR applies, we comply with those requirements in relation to consent and the use of cookies.
9. Severability
If any provision of this Cookie Policy is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from the remaining policy. All other provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
